What CBD isolate is and when it makes sense

One substance only

Isolate is what remains when everything else is stripped from the extract: crystalline cannabidiol at around 99% purity. In a lab report that looks like one line with a value and empty lines beside the other cannabinoids. THC is not detected.

What you give up, and the maths

Isolate has none of the minor cannabinoids and terpenes present in full and broad spectrum. On cannabidiol content there is no difference: 10% isolate and 10% full spectrum give the same milligrams. Compare price per milligram, not the percentage.

Isolate or broad spectrum?

Both are free of detectable THC. Isolate is cannabidiol alone and tasteless; broad spectrum keeps terpenes and other cannabinoids. At the same percentage the cannabidiol content is identical.

Does isolate taste of hemp?

No. Taste and smell come from terpenes, and isolate has none. That is why it is used in capsules, food and drinks where taste gets in the way.

How pure is isolate?

Usually around 99% cannabidiol. The exact figure for the batch is in the lab report, which also shows THC as not detected.

Is isolate weaker than full spectrum?

Not on cannabidiol content — at the same percentage the milligrams are equal. What differs is the composition: isolate contains nothing but cannabidiol.
